LEAVE A LEGACY!
Create a lasting impact through planned giving.

Your Legacy Can Create a Second Chance
A planned gift is a powerful way to support Second Chance Center’s mission to help people returning to the community build stable housing, meaningful work, and healthy lives.
By including SCC in your estate plans or through other planned giving options, you can create a lasting impact and help ensure our work continues for years to come.

Types of Legacy Giving
There are many meaningful ways to leave a lasting legacy with Second Chance Center. Explore the options below to find the type of planned gift that works best for you and the legacy you want to leave.
By including Second Chance Center in your will or trust, you can help create lasting opportunities for people rebuilding their lives after incarceration and support second chances for generations to come.
A bequest is a gift you leave through your will or trust. It can be a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder of your estate after other gifts have been made.
Example Language to Use in Your Will:
“I give and bequeath [insert amount or percentage] to Second Chance Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization, to be used for its general charitable purposes.”
Designating Second Chance Center as a beneficiary of your retirement account, life insurance policy, or other financial account is a simple way to create a lasting impact and continue supporting second chances well into the future.
You can name Second Chance Center as a full or partial beneficiary of assets such as IRAs, 401(k)s, life insurance policies, bank accounts, or investment accounts.
How It Works:
- Request a beneficiary designation form from your account or policy provider.
- List Second Chance Center, Inc. as a primary or contingent beneficiary.
- Choose the percentage or amount you would like to designate to SCC.
If you have a Donor-Advised Fund, you can recommend Second Chance Center as a beneficiary of a final distribution, allowing your generosity to continue supporting people as they rebuild their lives and move forward after incarceration.
Your DAF can help sustain SCC’s work for years to come by supporting reentry services, housing stability, employment opportunities, and other resources that help individuals create lasting change.
How to Do It:
- Contact your Donor-Advised Fund provider, such as Fidelity Charitable or Schwab Charitable.
- Name Second Chance Center, Inc. as a successor beneficiary.
- Choose the percentage or amount you would like SCC to receive.
If you do not currently have a Donor-Advised Fund, consider speaking with your financial advisor. A DAF can allow you to make a charitable contribution now, receive potential tax benefits, and recommend grants to nonprofit organizations over time.
Gifts of appreciated stock or other securities can turn financial assets into lasting impact by helping Second Chance Center provide the support, resources, and opportunities people need to successfully rebuild their lives after incarceration.
You can donate appreciated securities, such as stocks or mutual funds, either during your lifetime or as part of your estate plan.
How It Works:
- Work with your financial advisor or broker to transfer securities to Second Chance Center, Inc.
- Donating appreciated securities may allow you to avoid certain capital gains taxes and may provide a charitable tax deduction.
- SCC can use the value of your gift to support programs and services that create pathways to stability, opportunity, and long-term success.
