Khalil Halim Appointed to Denver’s Housing Stability Strategic Advisors

Second Chance Center is proud to announce that our Executive Director, Khalil Halim, has been appointed by Mayor Mike Johnston to serve on the Housing Stability Strategic Advisors (HSSA) for a term through June 30, 2029.
The Housing Stability Strategic Advisors (HSSA) brings together community leaders and subject matter experts to help inform the City and County of Denver’s efforts to advance housing stability and strengthen outcomes for residents across our community.
Housing is a critical component of successful reentry. At Second Chance Center, we see every day that access to safe, stable housing creates the foundation for employment, recovery, family reunification, and long-term success. Khalil’s appointment reflects Second Chance Center’s longstanding commitment to advancing housing solutions and ensuring that the voices and experiences of justice-involved individuals are represented in conversations that shape public policy.
“We know that lasting change happens through collaboration,” said Khalil Halim. “I’m honored to serve alongside community leaders who are committed to creating housing solutions that improve lives and strengthen our city.”
As Executive Director, Khalil has helped expand Second Chance Center’s comprehensive approach to reentry, connecting thousands of justice-involved individuals with housing, employment, behavioral health services, care management, and peer support. His appointment to the HSSA further reinforces Second Chance Center’s role as a trusted partner in advancing equitable, community-centered solutions to housing instability.
Please join us in congratulating Khalil on this well-deserved appointment and in celebrating this opportunity to help shape a stronger future for Denver.
